Darwin Yoga & Meditation hosted its first Bali kirtan immersion retreat in September 2017 and far out it was amazing! There were so many highlights including taking kirtan to a local orphanage.

All 14 participants plus ourselves boarded the bus from Seminyak and journeyed up through the mountains until we reached Tejakula, the location of the retreat. The trip was supposed to take 3 1/2 hours according to Google Maps and it took close to 6 hours! Everyone was feeling pretty exhausted from the trip, but were still very excited to be at the retreat venue. We will be looking at a shorter route for next time!

The Venue

The accommodation at the resort was simply spectacular. Each room was unique and beautifully appointed, not to mention the super king size beds, you certainly felt like you were worlds away.  The resort was located right on the ocean and made perfect viewing of the gorgeous sunrises and moon rises. Plus with 3 swimming pools on site, there was no shortage of relaxation options.

The Retreat

After settling everyone into their rooms on the first day, we commenced the retreat with a beautiful opening ceremony with a flower mandala creation, sweet kirtan and wonderful words of wisdom by our guest speaker, Radha Krishna das. Next followed 5 days of beautiful sunrise meditations, energising hatha yoga classes, soul-nurturing kirtans and profound wisdom. There were tears, lots of happy and relaxed faces, and many lasting friendships made on this journey.

My Highlights

One of the most special moments was sharing the wonderful kirtan meditation with a local orphanage. The energy was high and the kids were all smiles! They also shared with us a few of their songs and they were certainly a talented bunch! Another special moment was our last kirtan when the resort staff joined us for the session. They all looked so relaxed and it was our way of showing our appreciation for their kindness and smiles whilst we stayed with them.

Stay tuned for more information, dates for 2018 will be confirmed soon. Would you like to be the first to know? Get in contact with us and we’ll add you to the list!
